New - Kroger Trading Partner Form
GDSN® Initiative
The Kroger Co. has been engaged in the Global Data Synchronization™ (GDSN®) process and is rapidly approaching a milestone in its efforts to re-engineer several of its internal systems and processes to support a full conversion to GDS (Global Data Synchronization). This will be accomplished this through three steps:
- Advance the use of the Global Trade Item Number® (GTIN®) with our business partners
- Initiate a data quality assessment program with GS1 US™ / 1SYNC®
- Implement Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN)
The Kroger Co. is also excited to announce the launch of its new initiative called “Mercury” which will significantly upgrade its “new item introduction” and “item modification” processes. Mercury will leverage the item synchronization capabilities of the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) which is managed by GS1®, a not-for-profit, neutral organization that manages the global item standards. Kroger plans to begin converting to GDSN during the second half of 2012.
The Kroger Company is working with 1SYNC, to realize the various benefits data synchronization will bring to its organization and its supplier community. These benefits include cost reductions within the supply chain, elimination of data errors, and an increase in speed-to-shelf for new items and can only be achieved by exchanging accurate, GS1 Standards-compliant product data with its suppliers.
